Commuters sharing a car in Kigali
Commute sharing · Kigali

Share the ride.
Split the fuel.
Plant the trees.

shareRide matches Kigali commuters heading the same way. Passengers contribute to fuel, not a taxi fare, and every ride carries a small eco fee that we turn into planted trees.

Our mission

Burn less fuel. Pay less at the pump. Emit nothing alone.

Fuel prices keep climbing, and most private cars still drive across Kigali with one person inside. shareRide exists to change both: the same trips, shared, so every litre works harder and no one burns fuel alone.

Less fuel burned

Four commuters in one car use a quarter of the fuel of four cars. Sharing is the cheapest fuel-saving technology there is, and it's already parked outside.

A fight against fuel prices

When the pump price rises, splitting it is the defence. Passengers pay a fraction of the fuel, and drivers stop carrying the full cost of their commute.

No solo emissions

A private car driving alone is the most polluting seat in the city. Every shared ride cuts its emissions per person, and the small eco fee offsets what's left with trees.

Our services

One app. Every trip shared.

Commuting is where we started. The same shared-seat network is growing into everything a car does in Kigali.

Transparent by design

Your fare is the fuel, split by the seats.

No meter, no surge pricing. We take the trip's real fuel cost, divide it across the seats offered, and add two small, visible fees. The exact formula the app runs is public, try it yourself.

How shareRide works.

For drivers

Offer your route

Heading to work anyway? Post your route, time, and the seats your car actually has. The app suggests pickup points and names real places along the way.

For passengers

Find a match nearby

See commutes going your way, with the exact fuel-share price up front. Pick your pickup and drop-off along the driver's route.

Every ride

Ride, pay, plant

Pay your share by Mobile Money or card. Both sides are ID-verified, and a slice of every fare goes to planting trees.

Eco impact

Every ride plants trees.

The science is simple: burning one litre of petrol makes about 2.3 kg of CO₂. We know each trip's fuel burn, so we know its carbon, and a small eco fee on every ride, a few francs per trip, covers the cost of offsetting it.

Those fees are pooled and planted as real trees in Rwanda. The app shows the running total your rides have funded.

Why we built it

Kigali's cars are already going your way, mostly empty.

A private car on Kigali's roads usually carries one person and a row of empty seats. shareRide turns those seats into a network: the same trips, shared. Less traffic, lower commuting costs, and real emissions cuts, without anyone driving a single extra kilometre.

We're a Rwandan product from Inclusion Tech, built for how people here actually move.

Affordable, not extractive

Passengers cover fuel plus a small fee, never a for-profit taxi rate.

Fewer cars, less traffic

Every shared seat is a car that stays home, lighter roads for the whole city.

Built for Kigali

Local place names, real routes, Mobile Money, designed for how the city moves.

Safety first

You always know who you're riding with.

Trust is the whole product. Every driver is identity-verified with an ID and a selfie, reviewed by a real person, and only then allowed to carry passengers. Riders see verified profiles, real routes, and a clear price before they ever get in the car.

ID + selfie verification

Drivers upload a government ID and a live selfie. A human reviews every account before it can offer a ride.

Reviewed before the road

Cars, seats, and documents are checked by admins, no one drives on the platform unverified.

Location used only to match

Your location finds nearby rides and pickup points, nothing more. You control the permission.
